The Importance of Defining the Best Locations
Location may be very important to you, depending on your needs.
Imagine this: you’ve come across an amazing home—it feels right and checks all of your boxes. It has outdoor space and the right number of bedrooms. It's move-in ready and the price is within your budget. You've already fallen in love, and you're ready to make an offer. Then you realize that the location isn’t right, and you are devastated. I recommend that buyers always do a little more research to make sure a house is the right fit. Depending on your specific needs or preferences, the location may be very important.
If your commute to work would be an hour each way, that may not be possible for you. If there aren't any grocery stores within walking distance and you want to continue with your car-free lifestyle, that won’t work. If your friends and family live too far away for you to see them as much as you’d like, that can kill the deal. Also, make sure to take a look at the crime ratings and school ratings for the area.
"I recommend that buyers always do a little more research on location."
All of these scenarios have played out for my clients many times. It's a huge bummer to realize that your dream home is not going to work because it's not in a location that works for you. However, this scenario is entirely avoidable. It's one of the reasons why we focus on identifying the location factors that are most important to you.
As one of the first steps in creating your home search, my team and I help you carefully define the locations that you want to include so that we're only looking at homes that are a good fit. That way, when you find your dream home, you’ll know it's in a location that works for you.
