Summer Outdoor Adventures Close To DC
With camps canceled and the usual summer travel put on hold, summer 2020 is looking and feeling a little bit different than what we are used to. We’ve put together a list of nearby options for outdoor adventures, both in DC and beyond, that don’t require flights or hotels, and offer ways to have fun and stay cool this summer.
Kayaking and Paddleboarding in the Potomac
Boating in DC is open by reservation only at Key Bridge Boathouse, Thompson Boat Center, the Wharf Boathouse and Fletchers Boathouse. Options include kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing. Weekend time slots fill up quickly so be sure to book in advance. Boating is dog friendly.
Sailing in Annapolis
Known as the sailing capital of the US, Annapolis is within an hour of DC and has several options for sailboat rentals and charters by the hour or the day.
